Open Letter to John Key – Prime Minister of New Zealand

John Key, I would like to ask you a very important question? Given that WW3 is almost about to break out between Russia (and China will back them up as they are allies) and the USA, why on earth are you kissing up America’s butt? Why do you continuously try to get in bed with both USA and China when things are about to get really HOT up in the northern hemisphere? Surely you know you are going to have to choose a side, and as far as I can tell you are backing the losing team.

You are a long time participant in the world of global money and you must be well aware (if someone like me is) that America are so far in debt, trillions in debt, (and a lot of that debt is owed to China who could sink their economy with ease by using the BRICS alternative currency and destroying the petrodollar).

American military has a long history of invading countries they have no business in being in, purely in an attempt to gain control of that country’s oil resources. They are broke, desperate and trying to draw Russia into a war (that Russia really does not want by the way. And Syria ASKED Russia to help in Syria. America had no such invitation to their country). By siding with the aggressors here (and don’t kid yourself into thinking that most of the planet is not aware of the fact it is the American government who are the aggressors) you are painting a HUGE target on our country.

We know that breaking our 30 year NO NUKE stance is purely to suck up to the Americans. We know the increase in military funding (while there are children living in cars without enough to eat here that you ignore) this increase in military funding is to aid your buddies (who have been exposed to have created and fund ISIS) in illegal invasions of foreign Middle Eastern lands (such as Iraq, Libya and several others). If you gave a damn about this country you would keep us neutral and out of it all, but we know where your real loyalty lies.

The Australians have made the mistake of bombing with the Americans. Terrorism has risen notably in their country as a result. Russia is trying to keep things from overheating but if they continue to be backed into a corner, they will retaliate. Russia’s military technology and weapons could end life on this planet as we know it! A wise man would not risk pissing them off!

I truly feel for the general population of America because they too are sitting ducks, at the whim of a government who is crazy out of control in their never ending search for global domination and in truth gives them no democracy and cares little for their safety either.

John Key, best you  have a serious think about the danger you and all your other Neoliberal cronies are exposing us all to. #PeacenotWar #NoNukes #Syria #WW111 #NoTPP #stopthekilling #leavetheoilinthegroundatomic-bomb-1011738_640

I love my country, but am deeply ashamed of its Government,

Hunt for the Wilderpeople – Review of the movie

I had to give a review of this awesome movie recently released. Not just because I am from New Zealand (and a very proud Kiwi), but because I enjoyed it so much. I felt it my duty to spread the word so that others who may not have heard of it, can go see it if they get the chance.

The dynamics between Julian Dennison (the boy) and Uncle Hec (Sam Neill) are hilarious and heartwarming. There are many other familiar faces in the cast line-up who also helped to make this movie so enjoyable.

Based on book Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump, the movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople was a little sad in places, but mostly pee-your-pants, laugh out loud funny and so very kiwi. It kept me glued to the screen the whole way through.

An added bonus is the beautiful backdrop of the ‘majestical’ (in the words of Uncle Hec) countryside that I am so lucky to call home. If you want a taste of real outback New Zealand, this film is a great place to start.

Book Review: Barbed Wire and Daisies

Lovely review from Christy after reading Barbed Wire and Daisies. Thanks again, Christy. Very pleased you enjoyed it.

What a fantastic book! Based in New Zealand in the year 2030, under present living situations, it’s a story of how a community came together to protect their lives and their valley. Seeing nothing but death and destruction around them, due to the lack of supply of Petrol, the MacGregor family was ready for an emergency, thanks to dear Nana and her odd gifts, and survived quite well. They had everything for basic survival. With the residents of Arrow Valley, they stayed together and fought together, protecting the valley from the vagrants from town, and impending massacre.
Not being a Sci-Fi enthusiast, I would still recommend reading Barbed Wire and Daisies!

Maori elder Kingi Taurua sends TPPA partners, Queen a formal notice of veto of trade agreement

Not related to my writing but something far more important. The sovereignty of my homeland and the future protection of my children. I wanted to confirm on my blog we Kiwi’s DO NOT WANT the TPPA, we gave our Government and John Key NO MANDATE to sign it on our behalf and as this post explains, it is actually ILLEGAL for them to do so without the agreement of our Maori Elders. Be interesting to see what unfolds on Thursday 4th May 2016 in Auckland at Sky Tower.

Kingi Taurua, a prominent Nga Puhi elder at Waitangi’s Te Tii Marae, has sent a formal notice of veto of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement to the embassies and trade departments of its proposed partner countries, and has requested that the Queen intervene on the issue.

The document cites the Treaty of Waitangi and the 1835 Declaration of Independence of New Zealand, and states that the New Zealand government does not have “due authority” to sign the TPPA without the agreement of Maori elders, “which [agreement] has not been given”.

Mr Taurua claims that the TPPA would be void in respect of New Zealand’s involvement as a result, should it be signed.

NZ Food Security has obtained a copy of the document sent by Mr Taurua, which is titled “Notice of Non-Assent to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement and Exercise of Constitutional Power of Veto in Respect Thereof”.

Too many choices! Too many choices!

We’ve had an eventful week or so with my last couple of unplanned posts. In all fairness, I did expect to get some knickers in a twist (which I did) with my post Pay the Writer. As a quick recap, I love used bookstores. They get a lot more of my money than I like to admit *looks up number to 12 Step Sponsor*

You don’t understand. Half Price Books has books ZEN DOODLES. No frigging idea what those are…just that I need some.

I’m not against “discovering” an author there.

But writers? If we promote used bookstores, make sure to remind readers you don’t get paid that way. Discovery must serve a purpose. Exposure must have the follow-up to be effective.

Because if you don’t ever make any money, you have to go work retail. If you work retail, one day you will be asked one too many stupid…

Happy New Year

Hi all. Haven’t been on here for a while. Sorry, not neglect, just a crazy busy life and I’m one of those people who likes to wait till she has something worthy of saying before putting it out there.

So to start the year off with a bang, I’ve decided to share some thoughts on the book I’m currently reading. The Stand, Stephen King.

The Stand Stephen King

I haven’t finished yet so no spoilers please, but it’s quite spine-chilling the amount of things he writes about, which at that time (the 70’s I believe) were purely fictional, but if you look at the world now, it’s very easy to believe many of them have come true. Apart from the worldwide virus taking us all out … and they way GMO’s, pollution etc are going, it’s not a totally far-fetched scenario either.

Scary times people. We are living a Stephen King Thriller, and we all know how many make it out of those alive…

Not trying to be a downer, but I think we all need to try our utmost to help alleviate the damage humans are doing to this planet. At least as much as in our power to do so. Research things. Be aware. Don’t blindly trust those in charge, for contrary to what they say, they do NOT always (in fact rarely) have our best interests at heart. Money and greed have been taking a terrible toll on the world. It cannot continue to have free reign to do so.

Apart from that, be well, be safe and if you can, be happy.

Barbed Wire and Daisies Trailer 1 (slightly longer version)

If one day, the oil suddenly stopped coming … what would you do to keep your family safe when things get ugly? Genevieve MacGregor is in that position, and she’s not going down without a fight.
This is a dystopian suspense thriller of a post oil world, in particular, a valley in rural New Zealand. There is plenty of action, and suspense, and even a little kiwi humour thrown in just to lighten the serious subject matter.
